I recently read a book called All The Bright Places, I absolutely loved this book. I won't give any spoilers away but I genuinely think that this is a book that everyone should read at least once. It teaches a lot about life, and the quality of your life. It has humor, love, heartbreak, everything. In the book there's a quote that says, "the thing I realize is, it's not what you take, it's what you leave." And that got me thinking, what do I want to leave behind one day? What do I want to be remembered for? Not that I ever think about my death, but it's inevitable that one day we're all going to die, I don't want to float into oblivion. I want to be remembered. So I've decided some of the things I want to leave behind. Equality. Obvious one, I know. But it's true. I want to fight for feminism and our equality and have that be left behind. Not necessarily that I want to be remembered as in I'll be famous or something, I want people who know/knew me to remember me by my passion for this on going battle. I want to end this before other generations have to because I will take the pain and suffering now so my children won't have to one day. Creativity. I'm not claiming to be an artist of any sort, but I do pride myself in standing out a little bit more. Maybe it's my clothes, or my shoes, or my makeup, I'm not quite sure. Uniqueness is always something that came easily to me, I was never drawn to the same things as the other children. I preferred dark colors and crazy lipstick. I want to be remembered as someone who was so fearless and confident. I don't care what other people think of my clothes, I care what I think of my clothes. This may seem like a weird or irrelevant topic for some of you, or you're thinking why the hell am I thinking about what people will remember me by. I'll admit, I was hesitant about writing and posting this. But then I got curious, what do other people want to leave behind? What does the quote mean to you? This world is filled with billions of extraordinary people, today I wrote this for my 'Bright Places' whether it's people, places, objects or memories. There are so many bright things in this world.
