If You Like It, Wear It!

I try not to regret anything in life, I think it's

important to embrace the things you love and not dwell on the things in past. Gatsby taught us that you can't repeat the past, and that's very true. However, if there's one thing that I would go back and change if I could would be my confidence. Middle school is a tough time for most people, you're going through an awkward phase, everyone's talking about your future, you learn all these different life things that you never knew before. In middle school I had no confidence and the self esteem the size of a pea. Now as a senior in high school I'm looking back and think it's so silly. Why was I afraid to wear something as simple as Doc Martens to school? Why was I so afraid of criticism? Of being different? I know it's easier said than done to be confident in yourself, trust me. But you'll also live such a happier life if you just stop being so afraid. I was so afraid that people would judge me and think that I'm weird. I didn't want to be wearing the same thing that all the other girls were wearing, but I did. In 10th grade I finally wore my Docs to school and slowly I started getting more comfortable wearing different things. People compliment me all the time too, they don't think it's weird. So girls, don't be afraid not to wear what the popular girls are wearing. And boys, don

't be afraid to wear clothes or make up marketed towards females. Clothes have no gender, remember that. Be who you want to be, and be proud. Don't let others put you down, because you're the one in 10, 20 years thinking to yourself that you wish you wore those shoes, or that lipstick; the 'popular' kids won't remember. Wear your badass clothes and be remembered as the kid who could pull anything off. Even if you don't think you can pull it off, fake it till you make it, it works if you work it. Be confident in your own skin and don't cater to the social norms because you think that's what you're supposed to do. What you're actually supposed to do is be you and be happy. If wearing purple lipstick makes you happy, then buy all the purple lipsticks in the world and WORK IT. Who cares what other people think of your clothing, you're the only person that has to like it. "You are not the opinion of someone who doesn't know you." -Taylor Swift (If you're looking for real feel good/ heart wrenching confident speech go look up Taylor Swift's 'Clean' Speech from the 1989 tour, then cry a little, then go out and show the world how awesome you and your fashion sense are.) Be whoever you want to be, and be proud of it.
