January Favorites
Can you believe January is coming to an end this week? It feels like 2016 just started yesterday, how has it been a month already? Here's a bit of a recap of everything I've been enjoying this month to welcome February!
Music
Recently, I've been really into Charlie Puth! His album, Nine Track Mind is due for release on January 29th. I think he's definitely worth giving a listen to! He is inanely talented, I don't think there isn't anything Charlie CAN'T do. His vocal range is unbelievable and he could take anyone in a beat-box battle any day, not to mention he could probably play the piano with his eyes closed. From what I've already heard off the tracks that have been released with the preorder and his self-released albums, Ego and The Otto Tunes, Charlie's music has an 80's vibe that's sure to get stuck in your head and you'll be singing the lyrics around the house in no time! He's also going on tour in March!
Books
Currently, I'm reading Just Kids by Patti Smith, and I am absolutely loving it so far! Just Kids serves as a salute to NYC during the late sixties and seventies. Smith tells the story of her time spent with Robert Mapplethrope. After traveling to the big city to pursue her dream to become an artist, Patti encounters Robert, who shares the same dream. The two artists fell in love and fueled each other's passion for creation. Patti evolves to become a famous poet, and Robert a photographer. Patti Smith pulls the reader in with her brilliant wording and vivid description. I highly recommend it to anyone who has a passion for art, Smith can make any burden or a starving artist sound beautiful.
TV
The Fosters returns to ABC Family, now know as Freeform today, January 25th. I've been following this show since its first came out, and if you haven't seen it, you're really missing out. Now on their 3rd season, you're sure to fall in love with Callie and her story. The Foster's aren't the stereotypical family, but as quoted in the show, "DNA doesn't make a family, love does." Although I'm upset they've replaced Jake T. Austin, I'm sure they'll be so much drama going on I'll hardly notice. Definitely a must-watch!
Beauty
I've been ob-sess-ing over Kat Von D recently! Even though her products are more expensive, they're definitely worth it! I should've listened to every beauty guru who raves about Kat's Tattoo liner. I've never had the best luck with pen liners, but this product is incredible! If you're looking for a liquid liner that lasts, this is your new go-to! Currently, I only have the color "Trooper", which is black, it also comes in a brown and her ink liner comes in 10 different colors ranging from an olive green, to purple, to white! All these liners are super pigmented, and even though it's not completely matte, I love the finish!
A package from Morphe just arrived in the mail the other day as well! If you're looking for quality for less, Morphe is your new favorite beauty brand. Known for their popular 350 Palette, Morphe shadows are super pigmented and come in hundreds of beautiful colors in mattes, pearls and shimmers! Their palettes are super cheap which are why they are a staple in most beauty guru's makeup collections! I ordered the 35T palette and I absolutely love it! Their brushes are great too, although I do recommend their elite collection, even if they are a bit pricier. Most of their brushes are as cheap as $2, and while I do like them, the elite collection tends to last longer, and though they're a bit pricier, I think it's worth the money, especially if you need to wash your brushes often (which you should be doing anyways... but let's be honest here, who has the time for that?). But even at $2, you can't beat the price, so you won't feel bad about tossing it out about tossing a brush out after a couple uses!
Here's to a great January and an even better February!
